That is the way I did mine, with a piece of 2x6 under the rear of the pan and a bottle jack- loosen the front motor mount flare nuts. That way you can control the angle of the engine. I do have an aftermarket Milodon pan on the motor. Oh yes we did pull mine complete motor and tranny, I'd never do that again!
