This brings up a question I have had and may help Knud in his decision. I know aluminum flywheels being lighter , will overcome inertia quicker therefor gaining RPM faster. In a big block B body with about 3:50 rear end ratio - 4 speed-5500-6000 RPM limit - about 375-400 Horse -any advantages or disadvantages to running an aluminum flywheel. Driven street and every so often on the strip? My thoughts: a 413 has enough torque to get you off the start line ( or from a stop sign) without the inertia of a steel flywheel. The aluminum flywheel would wind up quicker, Any experience out there with the aluminum flywheels?...................MO.......ew iowa ----- Original Message ----- From: "Knud-Erik Holm" <kebh@xxxxx>To: <1962to1965mopars@xxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, March 19, 2009 2:12 AM Subject: SV: FlywheelThank you very much Don, Do you have any suggestions as to balancing the schiefer aluminium casting 21-330 flywheel, and the choice of clutch? No hurry, it is not going to be driving this year anyway. Here in the GWNwe were raised on inches but supposedly switched when P Trudeau was Prime Minister, but secretly we didnt except for the new kids. Metric based on tens . inches based on 12s like time is.----- Original Message ----- From: "Knud-Erik Holm" <kebh@xxxxx>To: <1962to1965mopars@xxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, March 18, 2009 2:24 PM Subject: SV: FlywheelI think I got that diagram of the net, it is describing 3 holes to bedrilled on the engine side. 1 13/64" wide and 0.66 deep to the point. ButI am not sure as to how I am suppose to understand the angels it dictates. It says 3.88 R (radius?) 2.50 TYP ? and 41 degrees and 26 something?. Itis a bad drawing i suppose. Does anyone have one that works in millimetres and is more describing? Please! To make the choices harder, a guy offered me an aluminium flywheel for a god price 270 us$ it is new in box and is called a schiefer aluminium casting 21-330 how do I balance this flywheel? And what about clutch type, is a normal clutch to powerful for aluminium? Getting more and more confused as I gather more information... Any way thanks for bothering with my problems Ps. If I lived in USA, I would just go down to the shop an purchase one! But this is Denmark, and everyone that had a-833 on cars tore them out andinstalled 727 auto. And threw out the rest. These things are very hard tocome by in Denmark, and bying them in Germany or Sweden do not make it affordable, a correct 360 flywheel will cost me 550 us$ plus tax and transport! See my problem, and then there is all the rest of the setup that's missing... I am helping a stock car racer here and he has no360 flywheel . We are using the diagram from the MP chassis book and theinstructions to convert a 318 wheel to 360 balance. Remeber this is rightfrom Momma Mopars book and not some idea from the hill country.
