Scraping the carbon from the pistons while still in the motor deposits
abrasive materials in the ring lands and degrades the rings and cylinder
walls.
Out of the engine is no problem but this is done when rebuilding the motor.

Dont remove the carbon from the pistons.
From what i recall many years ago, if you did this the motor started using
oil.
I dont know why, but this was something we never did when removing the
heads for any reason.
