hey rich, back in the days when I was driven around with that old tired oil burner of an engine, I was replacing plugs all the time. I quickly learned that all these plugs needed was a good cleaning and then they worked fine. sometimes my car wouldn't start, so I'd start pulling plugs and clean them up, with a little wire brush tool I had, and the old Poly would fire right up. that was a long time ago but I have saved sets of all 3 of those heat ranges also have some AC's and a set of Bocsh Platinum plugs. the only time I tossed them was when the electrode looked damaged beyond repair. those 75's were the normal heat range for the Poly if you can find an Autolite plug with a lower # then 75 in the same size that would be going to a colder plug. I have Champions in the half built Poly I am running right now. I think they are J12 YC or something like that, I recall I was looking for 9's but can't remember if I ever found those. My Poly doesn't foul plugs anymore so I haven't had to check them in a long time. last time I did check, they were all in the pink so to speak- that pinkish or hazy orange cast to the electrode and that ceramic insulator area around it, which indicates they are or the engine is burning good, from what I understand anyway.

Rich Kinsley '64 Dodge Polara 4dr 318poly w/goodiesDodger sent me a Autolite chart and the 75, 85 and AP85 are all the samedimensions with heat ratings of C7, D7 and E7 respectively. I still don't see anything saying which is colder but I do believe the lower number is colder. 75's were what I used before but they are almostimpossible to find. I believe they may have discontinued making them. Ichecked a number of auto parts stores and no-one has any in stock andthey aren't listed in their books generally. NAPA did find 12 of them in Salt Lake city for $1.39 each so I ordered them. O'Reilly may be able tofind some. They will call me back if they come up with some. Anybody else use these and/or know where to find them? ----Please address private mail -- mail of interest to only one person -- directly to that person.
