To the best of my knowledge: zddp was added to oils for engines that were flat tappet because of the wear characteristics between the lifters and the cam lobes. Most everything is roller cams now and the EPA has determined that if you were submerged in zddp liquid for several days, it may be harmful to your health. I see Royal Purple has specific break-in oil that they say has the zinc,
etc, right for break-in.
