What do you mean remove the column and do the coupler? It can be done in minutes (25 to 30)right in the car. Drive the pin out. pry the coupler back and off the box. Disassemble . Replace the shoes , putting them in the right way (opposite of what looks right to most of us. Start the pline on the box and shove back in place. Drive the pin through. Done.

I agree with Rich.Check the bolts holding the box to K member.Don't know if it's only the 64 Polaras that have that problem, but it's an easier start before having to remove the column and do the coupler.George --- On Sat, 2/14/09, Mike Phelps <mikeph@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote:From: Mike Phelps <mikeph@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: Re: Need a new steering box? To: 1962to1965mopars@xxxxxxxxxx Date: Saturday, February 14, 2009, 7:40 AM Try rebuilding the steering coupler first. There are kits available that are inexpensive. There is an article on the web site under Tech ramblings you should look at. I rebuilt mine if you have any questions shoot me an email. mikeph@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Mike P. -------------- Original message from62pluckedchicken@xxxxxxxxx: --------------> > There is a lot of play in my steering wheel, when parked the wheel can > move a few inches each way without moving the tires.
