Re: Magnetized drill bit

I have had luck with a lump of grease if your not drilling something too
thick. Or spray oil while your drilling killing two birds with one stone.
The oil cools & lubricates the bit and keeps the shavings in check if you
stop and wipe them up periodically. That's if your drilling down. If your
drilling into the side of something the grease blob is probably your best
bet. Or run a shopvac next to were your drilling.

I was wondering if it would help to prevent shavings from flying all
over by rubbing the bit with a magnet to magnetize it? Of course you
would have to stop often and clean it off or they would build up and fly
all over anyway.
