Alternative on Dash Clock Conversions

Some years back it was reported here by a member that he went to a craft shop and bought craft-oriented clock guts, the kind that uses one AA battery. He retrofitted that mechanism into his Mopar's clock and it worked. The only maintenance was replacing the AA battery once a year.
