No problem upgrading but don't get to aggressive, unless you are replacing
the whole wiring harness.  More amps, More stress, on the old system,
meaning you will be stress testing any weaknesses in the old wiring harness
and they will show up!!  If you get an alternator with two field leads or
three wires and the new harness is sill two wire just ground one of the
field wire leads ether internally if your familiar with the inner workings
or externally if not and it will work just fine.
