OK...this is getting bizarre. It's confusing so I'll try and explain it as clearly as I can... I have a 66 318 Poly on the floor of my garage that I had Gary re-grind the cam out of, and I have a 65? (stamped numbers ground off) in my car w/ casting number 2468230. The timing chain gears I bought fit the cam & crank from the 66. They will not go in the 65? motor. The cam gear stops before the front face is flush w/ the cam. The crank gear goes over the step-up on the crank to about the half way point of the gear and stops. The above statements would tell me that the crank on the 65? is a larger diameter and that the crank gear from it would fit on the 66 motor...right? Wrong! It won't!!! What the &%#@ is going on? Is this some kind of truck or marine motor? I really want to get this figured out so I can get this thing back together!
