Rear main seal install RB

Been trying half the afternoon to get this Hughes rear main seal kit in,but cant figure for the life of me how to get?the side seals to stay in the retainer when I try to put it into the block.The engine is on a stand. This is the 3rd time for this repair,the engine is newly rebuilt and the shop that
built it for me has done it twice (yes I have taken the motor out three times)so now it is time for me to do it myself.I do not want to do this again!!!!
Anybody have any?suggestions on installing these? I am using all updated parts.
