Re: Rear main seal install RB

Hi David,
If the retainer that you have is the same one like Mancini racing sells (billet aluminum with o-ring type side seals), what you do is look at the bottom of the retainer-there are small holes drilled into the grooves that hold the o-ring type seals. You then push the end of the o-ring into the hole and thread it up the groove on the side. I then coat the side seals with some lube before installing. As the retainer is slid down into the block, a portion of the o-ring will stick up. Just take a razor blade and trim off flush.

Been trying half the afternoon to get this Hughes rear main seal kit in,but cant figure for the life of me how to get?the side seals to stay in the retainer when I try to put it into the block. The engine is on a stand. This is the 3rd time for this repair, the engine is newly rebuilt and the shop that built it for me has done it twice (yes I have taken the motor out three times)so now it is time for me to do it myself.I do not want to do this again!!!! Anybody have any?suggestions on installing these? I am using all updated parts.
