John, I recently replaced my fuel pump with a Carter. I have a 383 with 2 barrel BBD. It had 5/16 line and I decided to replace it all with 3/8 in case I ever upgrade the intake and carb. I don't know if it's necessary to go to 3/8 for your 440, but by my way of thinking, it couldn't hoyt. I'd also decided to go soup to nuts and coat the gas tank with an Eastwood kit. It all worked out great, so here's my story. I bought the stainless fuel line from inlinetube.com (recommendation from Jim Peavey). It was $99 and very well made and fit perfectly. The bends seem nice, not restrictive and it was an absolute match in every bend with the stock line. You also want the rubber hose kit for each end of the fuel line. If you're upgrading to 3/8, you'll also need to replace the sending unit. I bought that from inline as well for $149. Again, seems very well made and a good match for stock. I used a needle nose pliers to 'snap' the old line out of the fastners. The new line snapped into the old fasteners nicely, and they were in good shape, so I kept them. But the fasteners that came from inline were a very good match. You want to snake the new line from the back up to the front. The front gets tight in tricky up by the front wheel-well where it enters the engine bay. I also had to get fittings for the fuel pump. It took some searching but I found them at Lowe's in the brass fitting section. You want a 3/8 barb x 1/4 MIP fitting (or 5/16 barb if you stay stock). Good luck. - Jim Jim Altemose, Long Island, NY '63 Polara 500 (Max Wedge) '63 Polara 500 (383) '65 Belvedere I (Street Wedge) '71 Bronco On Sun, Aug 31, 2008 at 5:01 AM, John Hammond <426_maxwedge@xxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > > I've been following this thread with much interest since I'm currently in a > similar situation. > I'm assembling my '64 330 wagon and I'm working on the fuel and brake > systems.
