Re: Don's Letter!

Unfortunately I'm one of the few people that managed to kill a slant six. I managed to spin #1 bearing in my 78 Dodge D-150 short bed driving it home form Ohio right after I bought it. I considered putting a V8 in it but when gas went over 3 bucks a gallon I decided to build a new slanty for it and I've never regretted the decision. It now has a Super Six 2 bbl. with hydraulic lifters and Dutra Duals with Smithy glass packs. It sounds great and gets more attention at shows then the Charger Hemi I used to own. It also pulls my Scotty camper without a problem.

Personally my favorite mag is Mopar Collector Guide. They always cover the Slant Six racing series. You gonna get in on that Don?

I think the Slant Six article would be widely read and generate much interest. The "brain trust" at Mopar Muscle is out of touch with uniquely interesting articles.

Everyone has or has had one of these motors and most all agree the only failing is that they never die! Therefore they feel guilty tossing such a dependable motor in favor of their High Performance passion; not realizing the HP potential of these motors and the economical fun one may derive from such.

Yes there was some discussion about this over at slant6.org

Anyone else see Don D's letter in Mopar Muscle? He wrote asking them
about doing a slant six build contest. It seems they say there is not
enough interest to warrant doing it. Too bad. Could be something
different to read about.
