I've noticed lately that the front drum brakes on my 65 Coronet are quite noisy...especially when coming to a slow stop. They literally sound like they are FULL of dust, debirs, broken springs, small animals, etc., and sound like they are metal to metal @ the same time. I've pulled the drums several times, to check them. Shoes look fine w/ nice even wear & plenty of meat left. I spray everything off w/ brake clean, re-pack the bearings, put it back together, and they are fine for a little while, but not very long. I will add that this is my first all drum brake car so I don't have much experience w/ front drums. So my ultimate question is...anyone else experience this? Is it "normal"?
