Re: green bearing questions (A- Body 8 3/4)

Dan:

All I can say is the 4:56 pumpkin from my 8 3/4 bolted right into what ever
came out of the Duster and it all bolted right into my Barracuda! NO
MODIFICATIONS front or rear. I'm sure I did not find the only one made!! I
personally knew the person that bought the Duster New, about 6 or 8 weeks
before he totaled it. We drove it to the speed shop from the Dealer to pick
up the parts he ordered. I was the only one to modify and tune the car from
New. I towed it in the night he wrecked it (I made it to fast). I swapped
every thing on both cars the day before the insurance company picked the
Duster up from the lot I towed it to. I guarantee it had a 8 3/4 from the
factory!! Also I have seen them in junk yards a number of times. Can't help
you with what was going on with your friends Duster. Also the 8 3/4 4:56
pumpkin that I had in the Barracuda was originally from my Hemi Belvedere
that I sold with 4:11s, so I know it was a 8 3/4.

Well it is true that 73 and up A bodies that had the disc brake option had a

4 1/2" bolt pattern. But I'm almost positive that Mopar never put an 8 3/4
Rear end in an A body after 1972. (anybody know of one?) They switched to
The Spicer 8 1/4" in the 1973 A bodies. To the best of my knowledge Mopar
Never made an A body 8 3/4 rear end with a 4 1/2" bolt pattern. A friend of
Mine is running a B body 8 3/4 rear end in his 73 340 Duster. This is an
Original 1973 340 car and came equipped from the factory with a Spicer 8
1/4" rear end.
