Re: steering

Just this past week I replaced my box to column shaft with parts from Flaiming River. On the C-body, there's a rubber rag joint at the column and then the typical mopar pot coupler at the box. I replaced each with a needle bearing u-joint and connected the two joints with a double shaft. The steering feels so much better now that the slop from the rubber and pot joint have been removed. Also I gained some plug wire clearance at the back, and no longer have to have a jumper wire to provide a good ground for the horn.

I am really interested in the steering coupler. I know that firm feel and others have a u joint setup to replace the original "pot" type coupler. Anyone use one of these or rebuilt the original coupler?

Try Firm Feel. My brother put one in his 68 Polara and it tightened things up nicely. They have different levels to choose from.?

The steering?in my Coronet is looser than I like. Everything in the front suspension and steering linkage (other than the box) is new. I understand that the steering couplers do wear out. Is there a preferred source for the rebuild kits? Are any better than the others? What about the u joint type kits from flaming river and others? Any pro or con with them??
Thanks guys.?
