It sounds like they may still not be opening all the way. Also what color are your plugs when you pull them? If they are a light grey in color it is adjusted pretty close. If they are black, it's to rich. If they are almost white, to lean. I have never owned a Edelbrock carburetor but have heard good things about them. A Holly is a lot more user friendly as far as adjustment is concerned. I hate to see you go and purchase another carburetor and have the same problem. Also just a personal preference run as cold of a plug as you can, that is if it is not running to rich as a cold plug will foul quicker but will give more performance! They did do some Rejetting I know after talking to people at Edelbrock. I live by Denver and The Edelbrock guys said that this particular carburetor shouldn't need to Have anything done to it. I also know they are at least opening some because When I got it back they weren't opening at all due to the fact they were Hitting a spacer plate they added to try to minimize the heat issue from the Engine causing the car to hesitate bad (they added a elec. Fuel pump that Cleared that up). So, after an adjustment in the plate, the secondary does Open up. It feels like it isn't getting enough air would be the best Description I can think of to give. Have you checked to see if they are opening All the way or at all, on the Edelbrock? Have you tried rejeting the carb?
