If I have some gas that is old, not full of water or ?, I usually just 
add some of it a little at a time to a full tank of my '98 Blazer. (I 
inherited it so don't get after me :-) ) I just butned a gallon of 
chainsaw gas that had been around for about 5 years. Didn't even notice 
any problems.
