car won't start

Drove my car last Friday and all was well. Went to start it tonight and 
it won't turn over with the key. Took screw driver and shorted across 
ignition and it worked ok. I loosened the key deal in dash and noticed 
that the big connector was on fine but there was one flat connector 
without anything attached to it. I wasn't able to see everything under 
the dash to see if there was a extra wire to connect or not. Should 
there be something connected to the flat connector? I'll look tomorrow. 
I'm tired and cranky after long day....especially with this happening as 
I was wanting to go to a Mopar show at an area dealership this Saturday. 
It would have been my first ever with this car after 30 years!
