Jacking Points - K-Member

Hey, all.
I am planning an inspection of my Valiant's steering 
gear, and noticed in my service manual that I am not to jack the car at the K-member without what they called a "support." That's all they said about that.

Would I be risking damage by putting my floor jack right under the center of the K-member to lift the front end?
