Butch, go to <http://www.autozone.com>and look up the- 'Spectre / Universal Braided Stainless Throttle Cable Kit'.
that's the one I used and it seems to work fine. there's a rubber bushing that the aluminum ferrule and lock nut fits through, the aluminum part that fits through the fire wall into the car is a little more bulbous then the stock set-up. but it fits, and is adjustable, so I was able to get it set up so the gas pedal linkage has the same amount of travel. it comes with washers to help clamp it all to the firewall. Maybe not the best solution? but I thought it was pretty good deal, and at $30.00. so far so good. the only other thing is you need to cut the housing and cable to length. which was cool with me, since I needed a little bit more, with the new intake and carb anyway. amazing how much easier the gas peddle works now, with a new slippery smooth cable.(o:

I'm really interested in the discussion about throttle cables. Mine broke on my 64 Sport Fury. I was able to find another one, used, for my car, got if from Jeff Carter at JC Auto, but would like to know how you all install other cables than oem? Are you able to somehow put a guide on a genericcable that protects the cable from the firewall, where the cable goes through the firewall? I had a gas line leak this morning and thankfully I was able to find the fittings I needed to get it fixed right. I have also moved the gas line farther from the headers and I put a piece of 3/4" Alflex over the flex line to protect it from both heat and abrasion. It looks like an electrician has been working on my car :-)I took it for a drive and the darn throttle is sticking on me. That can be a problem. I found that the cable type throttle had worn thru the firewall fitting and is dragging there for one spot. I need to get serious with this and fix it right. I think it'll be fine for the dyno-tune and he may have a cable we can use to replace mine. Everything is closed till then so I don'thave a choice. Happy Memorial Day to all.
