Re: Fuel pump / tank / line questions

The RB 383 used the same intake as the 413. All RB engines have the same block height and thus the distance between the tops of each side are the same. The same situation holds for the B block. As the deck height of the RB is higher than the B, the distance between the tops of each side is greater on the RB than on the B. Thus an RB intake manifold will be too wide for a B block engine.

The RB 383, though, used the same heads as the 361 while the B block 383 used the 413 heads. The RB 383 had a small bore (4.03") compared to the B 383 (4.25") and 413 (4.18"), which would have caused some problems with valves opening with the 413 heads. The 361 had a 4.12" bore.

So if you have a B block engine, manifolds from 350, 361, B-383 and 400 engines would be the correct width. 440, 426, 413 and B-383 would all be too wide.

do some checking befor you buy anything,,,,,,,,,,,,,an RB intake will not
fit on a B engine,,,,,,,,,,unless you have the rare RB 383

I'll probably want to upgrade the intake manifold and carb (maybe a
