Thanks for all the responses. I tried re-tightening the leaking exhaust manifold with no success, so will try the felpro gaskets. Since I've never seen an engine without an exhaust gasket, I assumed they all needed them, but really like the idea that I should not need them. I'll be getting new headers soon, so will check both them and the head and see if I can mount the header without a gasket, but I think this case calls for it, as these old headers look like something me and my friends would have cobbled together in high school shop class. /Butch/Ferndale, WA -----Original Message----- From: Rich Kinsley [mailto:rlkinsley@xxxxxxxxx] Sent: Monday, May 19, 2008 5:56 PM To: 1962to1965mopars@xxxxxxxxxx Subject: RE: header gaslkets Don Dulmage wrote: > > > I have a friend who is into all the exotic header gaskets. copper and > rinky dinky something silver looiking thingys all leak , never seal . > His shop is litered with the stupid things, meanwhile back at the > ranch we run two felpros per side. Quality headers should fit flush and not need a gasket. (OK, perfect world.) I'll get back in my bed at the nursing home now :-) Rich Kinsley '64 Dodge Polara 4dr 318poly w/goodies ---- Please address private mail -- mail of interest to only one person -- directly to that person.
