Marc, I dont know why but I ha ve never had a priblm iwth this swap. As long as the spacer in the iddle which keeps to thwo axle at the proper distance is the same length as the open rear end one was then there is no way the axles should be any different in length, and if it was not it would be a minor thing to make it that exact length sonce it folats in there only loosley held on the p spidershat for general positionong. Call e dumb if you like but I would not shorten the axles I wouls swap the spad cer for the origninal whoch would work or shorten the spacer instead which would be almost too easy but as I said before I have NOT had to shorten anything in either of my 63s when doing this swap. My advice plain andsimple is measure the middle spacer block to see of it is the same (cone type posi) or the little top hat shapped biuttons for the clutch type. cpmpare thqt with the measurement of the spacer in the original open rear end. if the distance isnt the same make it the same. Much easier cheaper and quicker then shortening two axles. This axle length thing is hard to understand since I have done this swap threetimes now i with no trouble using the original axles.
