RE: Early 8 3/4 Rear Axles

I have a 63 Fury convertible (in process) with the rear end currently out of the car completely disassembled. My plan was to blast the housing, powder coat it and disc brakes. The car has an 8 3/4 489 Sure Grip center section with 4.10 gears. I'm switching to a 3.23 for a cruiser. I haven't noticed two different length axles. Does anyone know of a way to adapt disc brakes to a tapered axle 8 3/4? Scarebird does make a braket, no one I can find offers that option with my housing. I've thought of buying a Scarebird bracket and trying to mod it to work. I know some here like drums but I want 4 wheel disc and if I can't make it work I'll sell the housing and use a newer version. Can I not replace the housing ends with the newer bearing version from someone like Moser and replace my axles to fit my Sure Grip? That option may cost more than finding a donor rear.
