I remember reading once that all 360 H.P. Dusters/Dart Sports, etc. in 
1974 used the 8 1/4 rear, even the 4 speeds.  Obviously the 8 3/4 is 
preferred, but I'd bet if you found an 8 1/4 cheap enough it will take 
it.
