The carburetor. I thought that was what I said. The only thing that would make the motor rev when cold is a vacuum leak, or a choke closed, activating the fast idle function of the carb. If it slows back down when warm, the choke has more than likely "un-loaded"., or the vacuum leaked repaired itself ( an unlikely occurance)
Since the choke is a part of the carburetor, you're right. It is something to do with the carburetor. Other than saying that, you're too far away to say much more than that. Good Luck Jimmy

Jim, I'm far from an expert, but my 62 polara was acting the same way and it was the carburetor. Another question; same 63 Polara w/383. When I start it up, it's revving high for a while. It takes a few minutes and a number of tries, but after a while I'm able to tap the gas pedal enough for the RPM's to kick down to what I'd think is normal. Any thoughts? As always, thanks. - Jim Jim Altemose, Long Island, NY '63 Polara 500 (Max Wedge) '63 Polara 500 (383) '65 Belvedere I (Street Wedge) '71 Bronco
