The reason behind turning the piston in reverse ,is it changes the angle of attack in relationship to crank /rod combination . When installed in the proper manner you are reducing the piston rock over . This is because centre line of piston is toward the intake side of the bore. Moving the piston in opposite to normal process this moves the pin toward the outside of the bore ,making for lees drag . The down fall is piston slap ,when running clearances in the area of .006 " to .008 ". The noise will diminish as the piston heats up and becomes round. But in a stocker with open headers who cares about noise . Kind of like if the tree in the forest falls and nobody is there will they hear it.
