I sold a 77 Caprice to the neighbor kid last year right after I had installed a set of aluminum slots on it with new lugs and washers. He took it to the BP where we live to have some other work done to it and they decided there was something wrong with the front wheel (there wasn't) and took it off for whatever reason, then put it back on without the washers (unilug wheel). He got a few miles before the wheel came off right THROUGH the lugnuts. When he took the car back, they said they had installed the wheel correctly and that the washers must have disentegrated! He had to remove the lugs before he could change the wheel, so I guess the washes disappeard on their own. I agree with Bill, it's better to do as much of your own wrenching on your car as you can. Sorry for the long story. I bought the car back from the kid a few weeks ago and had to replace the bad wheel.
