Re: Trans question?

It sounds as if you currently have a slant in your 330 - if so you would need a LA BH. (I've got a 65 BH for a 4 speed and don't know if they were different than for a 3 speed). V8 cranks may or may not have had a pilot bushing. If it didn't you can use an early to mid nineties Dakota bushing that fits perfectly (costs $6-7.00 at NAPA).

Subject: Trans question?

I have a question for some of you who have more experience with this old
iron. Could I use my 63 three speed manual trans with a LA small block V-8? I know I would have to get a different bellhousing, but are they available? Also, if so, is there any difference between the crank on a motor that originally had an automatic behind it, and one that had a manual? I ask because I had that happen on a Datsun truck years ago, where the crank had no space for the shaft on the manual trans. I want to put a V-8 in my 64 330, but I want to stick with the manual trans, and I'm on a seriously tight budget. Any help is
greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Wylde Bill
