A while back I was talking about roller painting my old 64 330 wagon. Well I changed my mind. I'm going to give it a traditional paint job (metallic burgundy) after sand blasting it. Believe it or not the paint job is only going to cost me around $700 altogether because my grandfather has a sand blaster and is very good with a spray gun. So here I am, on the last of my "two weeks" at work (quitting due to poor treatment) with gobbles of money in savings, everything paid off, tuition paid, and books paid. I live in Buckley WA, and my grandfather is in Placerville CA. So I'm doing some last minute preps on the car as I'm going to drive it down there on the 22nd or so. So far I've thrown my better street carb on it, replaced the motor mounts, tuned her up, changed the oil/antifreeze. Fixed the coolant leak, washed it, got the bee's nest out of the cowl, check all the lights, and I'm going to check the brakes all around as well as pack the bearings. Any other suggestions from you experienced road trippers? oh, I've got good tires, but no spare (I know, I really should get one). I've also got an extra belt, and fuel filter. Body work is going to be fun, I've got a big hole in the rear most drivers side pillar where someone hit the car with the corner of a front loader on a backhoe and broke that expensive side window out (I've had a replacement stashed away for some time now). The window was replaced with Plexiglas and the area around the hole and the window itself has rusted. I also have the dreaded pin pricks of rust by one corner of the windshield (from cowl). Everything else is pretty straight. This is a race car in the works, not a restoration. I've got two weeks to spend on the car once I hit California. Any suggestions on how to deal with these issues in that amount of time? Any help for the kid is appreciated!!!!
