engine oil

Clear DayHi all, just about to change my oil on my new engine,( 500" 
stroker)  and wouldn't mind a few ideas on what to put in.I was thinking 
about royal purple, should I get a straight weight or a multi grade? I had 
Mobil 1 in my last car, and didn't have any trouble with it, but reading 
some of the e-mails,  there seems to be some negative things about it.  Also 
does about 32 degrees total advance seem about right, to start out with?
