One comment.? You HAVE to floor a '65 727 to get it to shift from Drive to 2nd.? Thats the way its supposed to work.? Part throttle kick-down didnt come around on the V8 cars until about 1971.? Did you check the fluid level in Neutral not park per the FSM?

Subject: 65 Kickdown Adjustment
Is there a certain method to adjusting the kickdown linkage on my 65? My
Coronet seems to short shift first and is very difficult to get to
downshift from 3rd to 2nd. I basically have to floor it to get it to do
the 3-2 shift. Also in town, unless I come to a COMPLETE stop, I'll take
off out of the turn in 3rd gear 98% of the time. I adjusted the kickdown
rod longer just like I have in the past w/ other vehicles, and it helped
a LITTLE, but I didn't want to put to much pre-tension on the adjustment
because I know that can cause problems.
Thanks
Bill M
