yes, except that the rear drum was so stuck i had to pry it off and
when i did the wheel cylinder popped apart and doused everything, so i
couldnt tell.
  but  even before i began   all this , i noticed from under the car
that  the backing plate was stained  in something , so i couldnt
figure out how a leaking wheel cylinder could necessarily get to the
back side of the backing plate, so I assumed it might be  the axle
seal.
 anyway , i just took the shotgun approach and fixed all possible sources.
