Even when I installed the factory starter,it was a bit of a jiggle to make sure it was flush with everything. I think it might have been a matter of starter face not being exactly flush with the block,or possibly slipped a bit.I install the nut on the stud and then the bolt.Alternate while using your fingers.Then make sure it's still flush before the final sequence.
