Re: The Future

If I could offer a suggestion, it is just that all of the other email lists I belong to attach a list name (like [PONCHO]) at the start of each email's subject line, allowing me to automatically sort these messages into a dedicated folder. This list doesn't do that, and as a result, I have to pick the Mopar messages out of my Junk Mail folder, since I don't have everybody's email address in my Contacts list.

If there could be something like that in the next generation of this list, it would be great, as far as I am concerned.

I'm curious whether anybody else would prefer that.

thanks!

Its not all that difficult, they almost all PHP and SQL based. The
one you like is called vBulletin, which is about $150 for a license
IIRC. You need to run those applications on the server, which isn't
too difficult. The question is whether or not the 62to65 webserver
can handle that kind of traffic, which I assume it can. Another
option is freeware forum software, phpBB being the big one I've got
experience with. They all require some maintenance, but are ok.

The real question is whether people want a forum or an email list. I
personally do not want to visit a forum, and find that email is much
simpler. But that's just me.

With all these recent problems w/ Topica and talks of something
different, how hard would it be to use some specialized forum software
and host it on the same server as the website. I honestly don't know so
that's why I'm putting this out there. Here are 2 examples of places I
visit quite often. Moparchat's software HAS to be some semi significant
$ outlay and setup time...but I would one would be willing to pony up
some $. The MTFCA (Model T Ford Club of America) is very simple,
searchable, and has to be cheap. Just a thought.
