Results of tuning

This morning I fired up the poly after staying up till 1am to rejet/rod the Eddy's. I had replaced the main jets down from .086 to .083. Then I downsized the secondary jets from .095 to .089. I put in the #1460 rod per reccomendations. I have maxed out the accelerator pump travel and still retained the Orange springs in the metering rod. The floats were quite a bit off and I reset them to specs. I also reset the fuel pressure regulator to 5.5psi as I'm sure the 11psi for a brief while was the culprit that tweaked the floats.

After I got it started, I rechecked and set the timing. Then I took it for a spin. It ran noticeably better for normal cruising with more pick-up at low speeds. But when I ran it up towards 6000rpm it balked badly , started missing and generally complained. So I think I'm on the right track on the Cruise circuit but need to richen the secondary circuit. I did have some surging when going in the 55-70mph range too. I'm looking at the metering rod springs too. The carb kit from Edelbrock has more parts for increasing both cruise and power so I'll have to order some extra jets and rods to get into the area of the chart I'm needing to head toward. Like Earl said the chart is easy to read and theses carbs are a snap to work on.

Wish me luck.
