Manual to auto trans swap

This may be a stupid question, but when switching from a manual to an  
automatic trans, do you just have to pull off the flywheel and bolt on a flex  
plate? Of course all the other parts, cooler, cable, shifter. There isn't any  
issues with the crank is there?
