It reduces your bank account. Little else. It is used in prostock style engies or was when they used stock style blocks. It prevents oil pressure loss in the event of pushrod failure and lifter popout. It is also used to correct geometry of lifter bores from factory tolerence to perfect but like many intricate machining tricks often has potential for more error than less unless it is done by the very best. In a street or braxcket engine (under 650 hp for instance) it would be a total waste of good Money. Gains if any would be unmeasurable.
