Whitewall tire width

Thanks to all who replied.

The evidence seems to confirm 2 3/8" white walls are too wide too match
the 1965 Mopar factory supplied tires.

It looks like this is the Mopar whitewall evolution:

1961 - last year Mopar shipped wide whitewall tires as stock - white
extends to rim

1962 - Mopar shipped a narrower whitewall as standard, about 1 to 1.25"
wide

1967 - extra narrow whitewalls used (width TBD) (red stripe option
1968?)

There were also aftermarket miltiple white stripe whitewalls produced.
http://www.imperialclub.com/Repair/Wheels/three.htm gives an example of
a three white stripe tire.
