The Canadian 1965 Plymouth line-up was - PL - Savoy - 2-door sedan, 4-door sedan, 2-seat wagon, 3-seat wagon PM - Fury II - 4-door sedan, 2-door hardtop, 2-seat wagon, 3-seat wagon PH - Fury III - 4-door sedan, 2-door hardtop, 4-door hardtop, 2-door convertible PH - Sport Fury - 2-door hardtop, 2-door convertible There were no Belvedere models sold in Canada in 1965 and all Canadian 1965 Valiants were not Plymouths. And the Barracuda was a Valiant in Canada. All Canadian Plymouths could be had with a slant six, 318 poly V8, 383 V8 or 413 V8. Yes, even the Sport Fury convertible could be purchased with a slant six engine. The interior of the Canadian Sport Fury had buckets and console, the same as in the U.S. However, note that the Canadian Sport Fury is model "PH". In the U.S. it was "PP". So, how to tell what you have? The serial number for a 6-cylinder Sport Fury - US - no such animal Canada - hardtop - P3B59xxxxxx Canada - convertible - P3E59xxxxxx For a V8 Sport Fury - US - hardtop and convertible - P45pxxxxxx Canada - hardtop - P8B59xxxxxx Canada - convertible - P8E59xxxxxx Now the serial number for a Canadian Fury III is the same as the Canadian Sport Fury (same situation also the for Canadian Polara 880 and the Canadian Monaco). So, how do you tell it is a Sport Fury? The body plate under the hood : Model No. : AP1 H 23 - for a hardtop with a 6 / AP2 H 23 - for a hardtop with a V8. Body No. - ( 1 or higher) Trim Code - Starts with "H" - it is a Fury III with a bench seat Code "P4x" - it is a Sport Fury with buckets if the car is a 2-door hardtop or convertible. The Fury III 4-door hardtop could ordered with bucket seats and thus could have a code "P5x" interior. But only the 4-door hardtop. The bench seat Fury III was code "H5x", "H2x" or "H1x:". A third digit denoted the colour. Paint Code - (exterior paint) Thus if you are looking at a Canadian 1965 Fury, check the body plate. If it has "H2x", it is a Fury III with cloth & vinyl seats. "H5x" is for a Fury III with vinyl seats. "P4x" in a 2-door model would mean a Sport Fury while a 4-door hardtop with "P5x" would be a Fury III with bucket seats. This confusion started in 1962 when the Sport Fury appeared in the U.S. Instead of offering a Sport Fury model in Canada, Chrysler Canada decided to offer bucket seats as an option on the Fury hardtops. The convertible was not built in Canada. Chrysler Canada had the same option on the Dart 440 models. And as the Canadian 1962 Plymouth and Dodge Dart models used Dart interiors, they offered bucket seats from the Polara 500. Door panels were Fury/Dart 440, though, and not Polara 500. For 1963 Chrysler Canada used Plymouth interiors in the Plymouth and Dodge. And as Chrysler Canada now built convertibles (Valiant, Plymouth Fury, Dodge 440 and Chrysler Windsor) bucket seats could be had in Canadian Plymouth Fury and Dodge 440 hardtops and convertibles. With a series name shuffle for 1964, bucket seats were offered in Plymouth Fury and Dodge Polara. Seats were again from the Sport Fury, with door panels from the Fury. In May 1964 Chrysler Canada introduced the Plymouth Sport Fury and Dodge Polara 500 in convertible and hardtop forms. They used the exterior trim of the Sport Fury / Polara 500 in the U.S. with Sport Fury bucket seats. But the door panels remained Fury and the model number also remained "H". The Fury 4-door hardtop continued to offer bucket seats, though. Canada Track & Traffic magazine tested a 1964 Plymouth Fury 4-door hardtop with buckets and console. The Canadian 1965 Sport Fury used the seats and door panels from the American Sport Fury while the Canadian Fury III was from the American Fury III. The Canadian Monaco used the seats from the American Sport Fury and the door panels from the American Custom 880. And to expand the confusion, the Canadian Polara 880 used the American Fury III seats with the American Custom 880 door panels. The bottom Savoy and 330 used American Fury I interiors while the Canadian Fury II and Polara 440 used American Fury II interiors. For 1966 the Canadian Sport Fury and Monaco became model "P". both using American Sport Fury interiors, and ended the confusion. Hope this helps. If you need more info or help, feel free to ask. Bill Vancouver, BC Hi there, Just wondering where you are getting your info from. I'm looking for info about 1965 Canadian Plymouths. A fellow down the street has a 1965 Sport fury with a 318 Poly (or wide block or big block) Ive been told they are the same engine?. He's asking a reasonable price but I would like to do some research before committing to a deaI. I thought that it was a different trim package that denoted a specific car(ie. Fury I, II, III or Sport edition). The sport Fury package being the one with bucket seats and a console shifter. Wouldn't happen to know why this car wasn't available in Canada would you? Any info you could suplly would be a great help. Also. The car is in Canda but I can only trace the history back to 1985.
