Re: canada gas

I agree also, I don't ever remember gas being rationed here in Manitoba. I do remember all the hype about the monster engines in the cars in the late sixties and early seventies. That's when we bought our 71 Hemi Challenger R/T. My father was the area supervisor for a gas company at the time and used to laugh at the media reports of a pending gas shortage if we didn't stop driving all these gas guzzlers. He told me that at any given moment the gas companies in Canada had enough gas on hand to supply north America for ninety years if all the drilling was stopped. That number has remained unchanged in the years since and the known areas for drilling new wells has increased since then. Plus he goes on to explain that as the years pass our wonderful planet is still producing more fuel under its surface that we have not yet bothered to explore. He still laughs at the whole idea. I'm not saying that we do not waste fuel, we do, but we also have a lot more resources than any officials want us to know about. There is no justification for the cost of our fuel today. That's my take on the subject.

"What Ration???"

Joe, I agree
there was no gas shortage back then, it was a gasoline panic!
induced by the media, big oil and the Fed.
remember, 'Don't believe the hype'! especially if it's on T.V.
although, it was and still is a premonition of things to come,
if we don't start seriously exploring and using alternate fuel sources.
and ways of adapting our 62-65 Mopars to take advantage of
those alternate fuel sources. Like Don D's post 'Ethonal', keep them
coming!
