I think that there are mice and flies on the even on the moon. I don't
believe it's possible to prevent them entry. I saw one squeeze under my
interior fire-rated garage door that was probably the tightest door in
the place. He looked like a cartoon character squeezing his body thin
and sliding under the door.

About all you can do is make it uninviting and remove any extra habitat
or food source. The dryer sheets are supposed to be a good deal and
mothballs can't hurt. Don't have any rags, towels, etc. in there for
them to snuggle up under and make a nest. I can imagine they love the
security of being under the headliner so I'd ditch it if it's shot. I
had the dubious duty of searching out dead mice in vehicles when I was
working in a service station and the trunk and under the rear seat is a
favorite. Snorkels on air cleaners are fair game too. They do eat up
plug wires, etc. too.

If power is available I have had good luck with the electronic pest
repellers. They make a high pitched noise that basically only rodents,
birds and insects detect. It's kinda like having a noisy neighbor so
they leave. I had very good luck getting rid of spiders in a week-end
rental property and never had a mouse issue either.

Good luck!
