I don't know what soda blasting is, but I had my car media blasted a few years ago. The thought then, of course, is that media blasting is a gentler process then sand. I stripped the car myself, leaving only the wheels and the dash still on the car. The cost was about $800 as I recall, including a thin coat of acid-etched primer. I was pleased with the results. The only drawbacks were a bit of unwanted primer overspray in a few areas, and the darn little media pellets come "out of the woodwork" whenever I need to take a hammer to something.
