I believe with this you'd have to convert to the green bearings but I was told it would work when I was looking for some possible BBP upgrades. The ford option is a good one and really darn cheap. Several people have used ford explorer rear ends which have the added bonus of rear discs. But you're absolutely right, if you were getting something from across the country, shipping is a killer. Still with your abilities, you can find a whole car with that rear end in there for less ;-) Heck if you want it, get it. Lastly, some guys on the autocrossing list said they have drilled out their 8.75 to BBP using .6" allen head screws since they are slightly smaller than the studs. I can find out more info for you on that if you like (of course you'd have to drill the drums out then too, but you probably wouldn't be driving the car so much that you'd wear out a set of drums on a regular basis?)
