Should not affect ignition as the wiring for the ignition switch and the alternator gauge are separate from the wiring in the plug. Headlights and windshield wipers are also separate from the plug. There is a starter relay in the system. If you check the starter you will see there are two wires - one from the battery and the other to the relay. Make sure all those connections are clean and tight.
