What would expect the problem to be if the thing won't shift about of 2nd when floored most of the time? When it reaches the point when it should shift, it is like it shifts into neutral. Do you guys think the tranny needs a rebuild, or the bands adjusted? It all started to happen after I put Mobil 1 synthetic in it, and a deep pan (with the adapter), though maybe this is a coincidence. It's a '65 727 ...

when i bought my 64 valiant, the owner just had the engine rebuilt. but the
installer left off the throttle pressure regulating linkage. so the car had
basically a two speed transmission. the second gear band was totally
glazed. but i did drive the car quite awhile got ready to pull and rebuild
the transmission.
tomorrow is saturday and i will remove the broken linkage and take it to the
welding shop <fingers crossed> have them weld it back together and
reinstall.

now shifting manually i have not noticed any slippage etc.
but i am not "on it" either. i just had to limp it to the weekend....
