My 63 Fury had a 741 case/open with a 2:76 ratio. I purchased a 742 case/sure grip with 3:55 ratio. You cannot use the original axles unless you modify them. The 1963 741 case w/o SG uses axle 2070573 30 1/2" long. The 742 case SG uses axle 2404050 30 7/16" long. You must machine 1/16" from the end of each axle. The axles will then fit up to the thrust block and allow you to obtain axle shaft end play of between .013 to .023. After machining my axles I obtained .018 end play. The conversion is working well and you must pay attention to detail. For anyone doing a rear end conversion I purchased my 742 unit from Randy's Ring & Pinion. Beware...The 742 unit appears to be first class, but that's where it ends. The only tech support you get is how to fill out your credit card purchase. They have no idea what a 1963 plymouth axle looks like, only that it's the thing that goes with their rear end unit. They also have no idea of what axle bearings, inner & outer seals, or universal joints are used with our cars. It's October and I'm still trying to get a credit refund on wrong parts sent. They also have problems with computer operating, but they do know how to fill out your credit card order. You get next day billing, not next day shipping. Sorry that I've sounded off, not really.
