Hi Gary, For my son's first car we built him (that's what he wanted) an 83 Buick Regal T-Type. We yanked the turbo 4 cyl. & swapped in a 455 Stage II motor. To lighten it up, among other things, we installed a 740 Volvo power steering rack & pinion. #5003682 is a reman unit. It cost me $225.00 wholesale. It's very light, (aluminum) it's power, & steers from behind the spindle like our cars do. A 740 Volvo is at least as heavy as our cars so it can handle the strain. It mounts with two bolts. We had to weld in a bar from one side to the other to mount it. We cut the ends off the Buick hoses & the local hydraulic store crimped on ends to match the rack & we were done. It comes with the tie rod ends. (although we adapted the Buick ends to fit) The Volvo ends may fit the mopar, I don't know, we never compared them. The racks are made for Volvo by TRW. We used a junkyard Volvo steering shaft u-joint to mate the rack to the steering column. (new #1359712 $150.00) It shaved over 90 lbs. off the front end! It was done in 4 hours. You asked!
